what we do

Connection

01

Medicine can take a toll on physician partners. Connection and community are essential to thriving as a physician family across all stages of training and practice. TFSL connects physician partners through online  Connect Calls and in-person and virtual events.

TFSL also fosters connection through social media, where physician spouses and partners can find resources, support, and friendship.

TFSL collaborates with medical associations and specialty societies to host social events, creating opportunities for spouses and partners to connect while attending conferences and annual meetings.

1:1 Support

02

Work one-on-one with Hayley Harlock, a registered social worker, through personalized counselling sessions for physician partners, physicians, and couples navigating life in medicine.

As both a clinician and physician spouse, she brings a unique understanding of the realities of life in medicine and how it shapes individuals and relationships.

These sessions offer a space to explore challenges, strengthen relationships, and navigate the impact of medicine on personal and relational well-being.

The focus is on moving from simply surviving to thriving.

Whether you're navigating relationship strain or periods of transition, these sessions provide thoughtful, individualized support. All sessions are held virtually.

"TFSL is more than a community—it’s a lifeline for spouses and partners of medical students and physicians living on the flipside of the white coat.

"I found Hayley and The Flipside Life (TFSL) community through social media during the pandemic, at a time when I was lacking connection and support. Since then, I’ve attended weekly Connect Calls and other in-person and virtual TFSL events that have made a meaningful difference in my life.

TFSL fills a critical gap in medicine by providing advocacy, connection, and unwavering support. In a world that often overlooks us, TFSL ensures we feel seen, validated, and understood. It’s a space where we find strength in shared experiences and a network of people who just get it. We’re not navigating this journey alone—we’re in it together.”
